13-language vocalist and violinist Maki headlined major televised events, sports arenas and festivals such as America's Got Talent and Special Olympics World Games. After winning San Francisco Art Song Festival singing Bellini, Schubert and Faure, she performed at San Francisco Opera Center most notably as Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflote), and was the first Asian to perform Christine (Phantom of the Opera) in England.
Maki’s opera and violin remix of the Skrillex dubstep song “Kyoto” reached number one for five weeks on Global EDM Charts. She performed at Burning Man, EDC and hundreds of stages with Tiesto, Skrillex, Diplo, Autograf, Elite Force and other producers.
Maki was then cast in A Song for Manzanar, a Cannes Film Festival short film about Hiroshima and Manzanar internment camp. When her song “Burn On” reached a million streams, she became a Recording Academy Voting Member and her albums featured iconic collaborations with the likes of Robby Krieger of The Doors, Danny Seraphine (Chicago), Hiro Yamamoto (Soundgarden), Ed Roth (Annie Lennox) and John Paris (Earth, Wind & Fire).
Born mostly deaf, Maki performed the Beethoven Piano Sonata Pathetique at age 10. At age 15, she performed Vieuxtamps Vioin Concerto at the National Taiwan Recital Hall for the First Lady of Taiwan. Known for her cuperto (soft high tone) technique, Maki sang for Queen Paolo of Belgium, Dame Joan Sutherland, Jack Lemmon, Clint Eastwood and other dignitaries.
Maki graduated from the Johns Hopkins University, studied violin with Berl Senofsky at Peabody Conservatory, and trained with Sheri Greenawald at San Francisco Opera and Yefim Maizel at Metropolitan Opera.
